The Law Society's Executive Director of Regulation, Phillip Yelland, and Executive Director of External Relations, Kevin Lang, will discuss the Legal Services Review and the potential impact on members of the legal profession working on the High Street.

This will be an interactive session and you will be given the opportunity to ask questions that concern you and the future of your practice and provide your thoughts on our proposed approach.

  • Philip Yelland
    Executive Director of Regulation

    Philip joined the Society in 1990 having previously been a solicitor in private practice in Edinburgh. Initially he worked in the Complaints Department and took charge of that department in 1991. In September 2006 he took over as the Director of Regulation, which covers the teams dealing with complaints, financial compliance/Guarantee Fund, interventions, Regulatory Committee and related policy matters, and the Civil Legal Quality Assurance regime. Philip is also heavily involved in work relating to the implementation of the Legal Services Act around the creation of licensed providers. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Philip worked in the civil service for four years.

    Kevin Lang
    Executive Director of External Relations

    Kevin started working for the Law Society of Scotland in September 2010 after previously working as the Head of Communications for the airport operator BAA Scotland, covering Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. A graduate from Edinburgh University, Kevin went on to work in the House of Commons, running the busy office of an Edinburgh-based Member of Parliament before returning to Edinburgh in 2004. Kevin now leads the team responsible for the Society's communications, policy work, research and international work.
