Get briefed on what the General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act mean for you and your organisation.
Many organisations still have little awareness of the details and are confused by the main obligations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), which has been in force since May 2018.
With Information Commissioner’s Office sanctions not expected until 2019 and a slew of no-win, no-fee GDPR breaches services emerging in England – it is key to know the facts.
Led by data protection expert Tim Musson, Convener of the Law Society of Scotland's Privacy Law Committee, this one-day introductory course is perfect for people with little or no data protection knowledge, or those just wanting a refresher.
- Key terminology, principles, obligations and rights specified in the GDPR and the DPA
- Role of the Information Commissioner’s Office under the GDPR and the DPA
- Enforcement options available and steps which may be taken to mitigate enforcement
- Up-to-date brief on current official guidance concerning the GDPR and the DPA
- Develop an internal data protection audit
Tim focuses on training in data protection and information security, support for data protection compliance and information security and offering an outsourced data protection officer service.
He is currently Convener of the Law Society of Scotland’s Privacy Law Committee, where he has contributed to consultations on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Investigatory Powers Act. He is also a member of the Technology Law and Practice Committee.
