The President of the Law Society of Scotland alongside special invited guests will be coming to meet with you. This event can also be accessed remotely.
Alison Atack, along with Council members, Sheekha Saha and Serena Sutherland and Law Society colleagues Katie McKenna and Beth Anderson are coming to see you. We will also be joined by special guests: Jennifer Henderson, Keeper of the Registers of Scotland and Glen Dott from Scottish Enterprise.
This meeting will provide an opportunity to find out more about the Law Society’s key areas of work and will cover the legal services review, Lawscot Wellbeing, legal aid, and the profile of the profession research amongst other topics.
Our invited guests will provide an update on their respective areas. Jennifer will provide an update on registrations and Glen will provide a helpful introduction to employee owned business structures. Most importantly, there will be the opportunity for you to ask questions or discuss issues affecting you and your business or organisation during the Q&A session.

Beth Anderson, Head of In-house Member Engagement
Beth has worked as the Law Society of Scotland’s Head of In-house Member Engagement since December 2015. Her role is to represent and support in-house solicitors, whether they work in the public, private or third sectors and right across Scotland and beyond. She is also secretary to the In-house Lawyers' Committee.
Beth trained as a solicitor at Biggart Baillie LLP. She qualified in 2008 into the commercial property team. In 2011 Beth moved to Hong Kong where she worked in-house for pan-Asian conglomerate, Jardine Matheson. She is well placed to understand the unique challenges and rewards of working in-house.
Katie McKenna, Head of High Street Member Engagement
Katie joined the Law Society of Scotland as the Head of High Street Member Engagement in January 2018. Her role involves working with, supporting and representing sole practitioners and high street firms across Scotland. Katie is also the main point of contact and support for the local faculty network. Katie is also the project lead for Lawscot Wellbeing. Katie is a solicitor who trained at McClure Naismith in 2008. Following her traineeship, she spent some time working in-house and went on to gain years of experience working with high street firms and local faculties during her time with the referral networks operated by Harper Macleod LLP and Digby Brown LLP. Katie is a council member of the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow, enjoys yoga and is currently studying Spanish at the University of Strathclyde.
Serena Sutherland, Law Society of Scotland Council member
Serena is a solicitor based in Kirkwall and Thurso. She has a small general practice firm. Serena was elected to the Law Society’s Council in August 2018 and since then has been keen to meet as many people practising in her constituency as possible. Passionately committed to representing this area to the best of her ability, Serena would really appreciate meeting as many local solicitors as possible to talk about what is important to them.
Sheekha Saha, Law Society of Scotland Council member
Sheekha is an in-house solicitor with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, based in their Stornoway office, and a member of the Law Society’s Council. She has experience in many of the varied practice areas local authority work offers, but in recent years has specialised in social work law. She says that one of the most rewarding parts of her role in representing members is dealing with the varied queries and challenges members have and being able to help them with those.
