This half-day seminar will examine the key data protection issues around sharing data.
Solicitors frequently share personal data with other organisations or individuals.
However, it is essential to establish the legal basis and requirements for doing this and with the growing public awareness of data protection, sharing could be challenged by data subjects, with possible complaints to the Information Commissioner's Office.
This half-day course will consider the law, principles and practice of data sharing, including different types of sharing, to ensure compliance.

Tim focuses on training in data protection and information security, support for data protection compliance and information security and offering an outsourced data protection officer service.
He is currently Convener of the Law Society of Scotland’s Privacy Law Committee, where he has contributed to consultations on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Investigatory Powers Act. He is also a member of the Technology Law and Practice Committee.
