Another successful Scottish Paralegal Association annual conference saw Nyona Nicol named Paralegal of the Year

It’s the start of another year for the Association, having held our AGM on 6 April. Sandra Reid was re-elected as our President, along with Alison Smith as Vice President and Ann Clark as treasurer. The committee members were all re-elected for a further year and Paula Jones was elected onto the committee. We are always on the lookout for new committee members – you can email [email protected]

In April we held our annual conference at the Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow. It was a great day with over 130 delegates enjoying talks from fantastic speakers covering a number of topics and domains. We would like to thank our generous sponsors, in particular First Scottish, who do so much more than donate funds; and the speakers, exhibitors, staff and everyone else who helped make the day such a success.

Congratulations to Nyona Nicol, of Blackadders, who beat stiff competition to win our Paralegal of the Year Award – and to Paula McCombie (Patience & Buchan) and Sharon Connolly (Macnabs), both “Highly Commended”.

We now turn our attention to our autumn conference in Dundee on Thursday 19 September – put the date in your diary and look out for notifications when tickets go on sale.

We are also continuing our free CPD events. The next is on 22 May at the Glasgow Faculty and is open to both members and non-members. Please come along and take the opportunity to meet up with fellow paralegals.
