Report on this year's quadrangular match, and an invitation to join in future events

The Scottish Solicitors Golf Club recently hosted The Law Society Golf Club, Golf Club du Palais and the Ontario Lawyers Golfing Society (captains pictured right) for their annual quadrangular match (Andrew Gibson writes).

Held at the Cardrona Hotel near Peebles between 24 and 27 June, the Scots again finished runners-up, this time to the all-conquering Canadians after declining the offer of a drawn game on the final tee of their match!

After each day’s play, golfing hostilities ceased as the respective teams went out for a friendly dinner together, making for a wonderful social event. The trophy presentations were made to the Canadians at the closing dinner (although they had forgotten to bring one back with them, confidently predicting it would only be flying straight back anyway), where thanks were made to our friends from England, France and Canada for making the event such a wonderful success.

The Scottish Solicitors Golf Club is always looking for new members. The club also plays annual matches against Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, England and Holland, as well as inter-profession matches against the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, and our own club outing. It hopes to send a team to the triennial European Lawyers Team Championship, to be held in Portugal between 8 and 15 June 2019.
