Collected news of new appointments and practice changes

AUSTINS LLP, Dalbeattie, ceased trading as of 7 February 2018 following the sequestration of its sole principal, David Currie. The Law Society of Scotland petitioned the Court of Session to appoint a judicial factor, and Morna Grandison, director of interventions at the Society, has been appointed as interim judicial factor from 16 February 2018.

BTO Solicitors LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has announced the promotion of 10 senior solicitors to associate. Seven operate within the firm’s Insurers’ Representation team: Alistair Barbour, Angus Gillies, Lewis Richardson, Callum Sweeney, Mark Hastings, Jennifer Mackenzie and Gillian Harman. The others are Emma Donaldson (private client), Lesley Grant (employment law) and Jamie Reekie, a solicitor advocate in the Commercial Dispute Resolution team.

BURNESS PAULL, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen, has appointed Michael Thomson (right) as a partner heading the Restructuring and Insolvency team in its Corporate Finance division, with effect from 19 February 2018. He joins from PINSENT MASONS where he was a senior associate.

CONNELLY & YEOMAN, solicitors, Arbroath and Carnoustie, are delighted to announce that Nicola Jane Davidson has been promoted to partner with effect from 1 February 2018.

DAVIDSON CHALMERS, Edinburgh and Galashiels, has appointed Stephanie Mackenzie (right) as a director in the firm’s Housebuilding team. She joins from CMS.

DALLAS McMILLAN, solicitors, Glasgow, announces the appointment of Terence Docherty, previously of ABERDEIN CONSIDINE, as partner and head of Private Client. The firm also announces the appointments of Craig Muirhead as an assistant in its Litigation team and Martin Haggarty as a marketing consultant.

JAMES GUTHRIE & COMPANY LLP, Kilmarnock, announce the retirement of Ian Wilson as partner with effect from 31 March 2018.

MACROBERTS LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee, has appointed Louise Mahon (right) as a director in its Corporate team. She joins from BRODIES. 

MacRoberts has also appointed Eleanor Mannion as a senior associate in its Employment Law team. An accredited specialist in employment law, she joins from RENFREWSHIRE COUNCIL, where she was previously senior employment solicitor.

MILLER HENDRY, Perth, Dundee and Crieff, has announced the promotion of Aileen Scott (Private Client department, Perth) and Beverley McMahon (Residential Property department, Dundee) to senior associate. Michael Johnston, a newly qualified solicitor, has joined the Residential Property department in Perth, and Lindsay Kirkwood has graduated from her trainee position within the firm and is now a solicitor in the Private Client department in Dundee.

MORISONS LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has expanded its real estate team with the appointment of Richard Duffy, formerly with PINSENT MASONS, as a senior solicitor in the Glasgow office, and newly qualified David Perdikou as a solicitor in the Edinburgh office.

SHOOSMITHS, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed Liana Di Ciacca as a senior associate in its Corporate team with a focus on banking and finance. She joins from CMS.

THORNTONS, Dundee and elsewhere, has appointed Graham Taylor as a senior solicitor in its Montrose office. He was previously a partner with MICHAEL A BROWN, Dundee.

TLT LLP, Glasgow, Edinburgh and elsewhere, has appointed disputes partner John Paul Sheridan as the new head of its operations in Scotland. He succeeds Tom McEntegart, who will continue to develop TLT’s business in the financial services sector.

TC YOUNG LLP, Glasgow and Edinburgh, has appointed Richard Murray as a private client partner in its Edinburgh office. He joins from CONNELL & CONNELL WS.
