Registers of Scotland page: thanks are due to all who took part in the digital transformation consultation – Registers will be reporting back

In November 2016 Registers of Scotland (RoS) launched a three month consultation requesting responses on the next steps in our journey towards digital transformation. It closed on 22 February 2017.

As part of the consultation we covered three new digital services which are being developed, namely, digital discharges (which have started to be rolled out to customers), digital securities and digital dispositions. Between them these three most common deed types account for over 88% of all conveyancing-type deeds registered in the Land Register. The designs for these new digital services are being tested through our user experience panel to ensure that they meet the needs of our customers.

We have also proposed that the content of the form should no longer be prescribed in the rules but published administratively by the Keeper. This change would allow RoS to respond more quickly to changes in customer and business needs and incorporate the benefits of new technological developments.

To promote the consultation we delivered a series of workshops across the country that were extremely well attended, and we would like to thank all organisations and individuals who submitted a response. A consultation report detailing the responses and next steps will be available from the RoS website in the coming months.

Changes in RoS

RoS are delighted to announce the appointment of Charles Keegan as registration and transformation director. Charles will lead on transforming our registration services and ensure that we fully realise the benefits of our current business transformation programme, and that we continue to make significant progress towards completing the Land Register. He will be supported in that task by Chris Kerr, who takes up a new post as head of registration and who will be responsible for the operation of the registers.

We have also appointed Stephanie Brown, a new head of business development, who will ensure that we continue to improve the products and services we offer to our customers.
