Ayla Skene, solicitor at Pinsent Masons, Glasgow, has been co-opted as new lawyers’ representative on Council

1 Why did you apply to join Council?

I really wanted to get involved in developing the Society’s strategies and policies. I think it’s important for new lawyers to be able to feed into its decision-making body. I also knew it would be a great way to network.

2 What are you looking forward to most?

Meeting the other Council members and getting exposure to the inner workings of the Society.

3 What are your priorities as new lawyers’ representative?

My key priority is engaging with new lawyers and ensuring their views are heard on issues that impact on them, often indirectly. From a personal perspective, fair access to the profession is a big priority.

4 What’s the best way for new lawyers to get in touch?

I can be contacted on LinkedIn, Twitter (@ayla_skene), or through the Society. I’m open to any comments/queries/requests for advice, no matter how trivial. So please get in touch.

5 What keeps you busy outside of work?

My Border terrier pup is keeping my hands pretty full! Other than that I try to run and go climbing when I can.
