The monthly column from the Scottish Paralegal Association

Welcome to the first article of 2016 from our now regular column. Christmas and New Year are probably distant memories by now, but I hope you had some time to relax and enjoy the festivities.

Associate members

We have extended our membership to allow those working as paralegals without a supervising solicitor to become SPA members. Associate membership is aimed at those working in organisations which have links to the legal profession (searchers, police, mediation, public bodies etc). Applicants will still require to hold a paralegal or legal qualification and provide acceptable verification of working in a role associated with the legal profession. Further information can be obtained by visiting our website (www.scottish-paralegal.org.uk). We want to hear from paralegals who work in the private or public sector but not necessarily in a traditional legal role. We want to hear about all the exciting jobs that paralegals do!

Conference 2016

Tickets will be on sale very soon for our Annual Conference at Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow on 21 April 2016. Details will be available on our website as soon as they are finalised, but it looks to be a very exciting conference.

I look forward to meeting with you at the conference.
