An appeal for members to serve on the newly formed Health and Medical Law Subcommittee

The Law Society of Scotland would like to appoint members to its newly formed Health and Medical Law Subcommittee, one of a network of Society committees considering law reform issues on behalf of the Society and its members.

The subcommittee’s role will be to improve and develop healthcare, medical and clinical related law in Scotland. This work can involve:

  • considering and responding to proposals for reform of the law in Scotland;
  • considering proposals emanating from the UK Parliament;
  • commenting on legislative proposals and putting forward written and oral evidence to Parliament on those proposals;
  • drafting amendments;
  • compiling policy or position papers;
  • representing the committee in meetings with government and other bodies;
  • helping to communicate the work of the committee in the media.
