Announcing the 40th annual conference of the In-house Lawyers Group

This year’s annual conference of the In-house Lawyers Group will be its 40th, and the ILG is planning a special event to mark the occasion, which takes place on Friday 26 October.

Always the highlight of the ILG’s year, the conference will be held at Murrayfield Stadium, a new venue for the event but one with a tried and tested format for success.

Janet Hood, chair of the ILG, said the conference is “the number one conference for Scottish in-house lawyers, aimed at developing their skills and those of their teams and offering superb education and networking opportunities for delegates”.

She added: “This year will mark the 40th anniversary of the In-house Lawyers’ Group. The Group has changed dramatically over this period in terms of numbers and influence. Very few major businesses in Scotland could function without an in-house legal team.

“In-house lawyers are vital to the success of their employers’ business. Working with other professionals serving on boards and management teams, they offer a unique dedicated legal service, swift response time, specialist knowledge and understanding not only of the law but the political and business nuances of their employers’ needs.

“The event is designed to equip in-house lawyers with at least some of the skills and knowledge required to fulfil this role during these tough economic times.”

The conference will be followed by the annual charity dinner, this year at the Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh, with fundraising in aid of the Law Society of Scotland’s chosen charity, Help 4 Heroes.
