The ability to speak clearly to a given audience is a key element of professional effectiveness. It is not only about conveying information but it is also a means of instilling confidence in listeners.

At this course, attendees will explore the differences between ‘public speaking’ and ‘presentations’, as well as  techniques to engage listeners, structure messages and deliver with impact.

This will be underpinned by explanatory insights into the social use of language and behavioural linguistics, and through examining theory, testing techniques and practical activities.

  • Strategies on the most effective structure and content for a speaking or presentation event
  • Theoretical insights to underpin language choice and delivery
  • Vocal and delivery skills
  • Techniques for self-critique to support continuous development

Organisational benefit:

  • Clear and well-structured speeches and presentations - prepared well with clarity of focus - save time, avoid ambiguity and convey key messages with impact.
  • Organisational benefits include more efficient and effective use of preparation time, greater audience engagement, increased professional confidence and perception, both internally and externally.
