Our colleagues are our greatest asset and we invest in them through learning and development, the promotion of a work life balance and a culture supported by our values of respect, openness, progress, integrity and inclusion. We place great importance on our values; these were devised by our colleagues in 2012 and underpin how we conduct our business with our members, the public, each other and wider stakeholder groups.

"I joined the Society in 2016 from a very commercial background - I was looking for a change in career direction and the Law Society has enabled me to apply my transferrable skills from the financial sector into the not-for-profit sector. One of the main things for me was working for an organisation that has its members at its heart and its core, alongside a strong interest in serving the public good. The Society is a small, professional, friendly organisation with a dynamic, “we’re all in it together” culture."

"At the time of joining the Society I was a single parent and the flexi time system which the organisation operated appealed to me so I could work around my kids’ timetable, at the Society family friendly, means family friendly. The benefits and career opportunities at the Society are also great and has enabled me to progress from a temporary to permanent contract and gain experience in a variety of teams within the Society. This is the longest I have been in any job – which is testament to how much I enjoy it and the benefits which I get."

"I joined the Society as an apprentice at 17 after finishing school. I joined as an administrator in the Society’s support team whilst being supported through my SVQ in business administration. After a short time I was given the opportunity to assist the Central Operations Manager with facilities work and this gradually became a full time position. Through this position I have undertaken training with the facilities management membership body BIFM, which has provided me with the necessary qualification to progress within facilities management. Additionally I am a fully qualified first aider and a member of the Society’s health and safety committee, currently undertaking my NEBOSH qualification. The Society is a friendly and welcoming place to work with great benefits such as generous holiday allowance and flexi time system."
